Questions, answered

Is a cranial prosthesis the same as a medical wig?

Yes. “Cranial prosthesis” is the term many insurance plans and prescriptions use for a medical wig or hair prosthesis made for someone with medical hair loss. In everyday conversation most people just say medical wig, wig for chemo, or hair replacement, and that's fine with us too.

Who is Avelore Care for?

Anyone experiencing hair loss related to a medical condition or treatment, and the family members, friends and caregivers helping them. You can start an inquiry for yourself or for someone you're supporting.

How much does it cost?

Personalized pricing provided after consultation. The cost depends on the hair and base you choose, how much customization is involved, and the services you need. We'll explain your options before you decide anything.

Will my insurance cover it?

Coverage varies from plan to plan, and we can't promise reimbursement. Some plans cover a cranial prosthesis when it's prescribed. Our team can talk through what to ask your plan, and if you pay yourself, we can provide claim-ready documentation where appropriate. Read more about insurance and payment.

What happens after I send an inquiry?

Our team reviews your answers and follows up using the contact method you chose, to learn more and arrange a personalized consultation. Sending an inquiry doesn't book an appointment or commit you to anything.

Do you ask about my diagnosis?

Not on this website. The inquiry form, which opens in Google Forms, only asks for the basics we need to reach you. Please don't share medical details in the form. Anything further is discussed privately with our team.
